Tasting Colors Cookbook is a fall-themed dessert cookbook featuring four colors that are commonly seen in fall: red, orange, yellow, and brown. With this cookbook, anyone is able to make a colorful assortment of desserts that are each meaningful to their creator. 

Created a cohesive book that is ready for print in collaboration with fellow peers from the class. Project includes front and back cover, end pages, table of contents, epigram, section openers, index, contributors, and our own individual recipe layout spread.

CONCEPT

For the style of my cookbook design, I focused on implementing the 4 main colors that our class decided on for our desserts. Once I decided on the specific hues of the colors, I used them throughout the entire book to keep it consistent. With these colors, I created icons and illustrations incorporating these four colors including fall leaves and prominent fruits that were used within our recipes.

To highlight the joyful feelings that come with eating desserts, I used playful and handwritten fonts. The visuals that I created throughout were also made to match the playful and illustrative theme of the book.

RECIPE LAYOUT

For my recipe, I chose mango sticky rice. As a lover of Asian desserts, I wanted to share one of my favorite desserts that also reflects my Asian background. This is a recipe from my mom, who always makes this dessert when mango season comes around.

In my recipe layout, I used a yellow orange for the subtitles and icons to match the color of mangoes. I also added two strips of green washi tape along the edges of the photo, adding to the playful element of the book.
